What is Compress Shield?
Compress Shield® is system treatment developed specifically to improve the efficiency of air-conditioners, chillers, and refrigeration systems. Developed in 1990 after 10 years of research, its unique patented formulation distinguishes it from all other oil additives.
About Compress Shield
WHAT DOES COMPRESS SHIELD® DO?
Compress Shield® increases efficiency: Compress Shield® is a pure lubricant with characteristics of metal that transfers heat. It breaks up stagnant refrigeration oil in the condenser and evaporator restoring the system's ability to transfer heat. Compress Shield® reduces mechanical friction: By coating the metal surfaces of moving parts in the compressor, mechanical friction between the parts is reduced. Improved lubricity reduces corresponding wear on parts and excess heat generated, extends drip down time, reduces valve noise, maintains seal pliability, and reduces oil foaming. Compress Shield® reduces run time: By improving the heat transfer rate of the evaporator and condenser, the system capacity is restored. With capacity restored, compressors don't need to run as long to produce the same amount of heat transfer, and thus cycle off sooner.
Special Offer!
In an effort to provide added value to our contractor network, myServiceForce has negotiated special pricing for Compress Shield®, a system treatment that improves the efficiency of air conditioners, chillers, heat pumps, and refrigerant systems which, in turn, reduces operating costs by saving energy, lowering maintenance costs, and increasing the life of the equipment.

AHS Case Studies and Results:
American Home Shield and ESLP began working together in the summer of 2007 in order to test the use of Compress Shield® for AHS contractors and customers. The product was distributed to a limited number of contractors along with information on how and when to use it. This initial group of contractors realized positive results in terms of lowering utility costs and solving specific maintenance problems on residential HVAC service calls. The next stage of testing started in August of 2008 when AHS conducted a pilot program in Florida and Memphis. A group of AHS contractors were asked to consider the use of Compress Shield® as a service tool in four specific scenarios. Those scenarios and results are detailed as follows:
Scenario Results (when using Compress Shield®):
1. The system is functioning properly but the discharge air temperature is too high. 83% of the time, the system started cooling properly.
2. The compressor pressures are good but the compressor is extremely noisy. 86% of the time Compress Shield® reduced the noise to an acceptable level.
3. The compressor is hard to start. 78% of the time Compress Shield® enabled the compressor to start without the addition of a hard start kit.
4. Heat pump has an inoperative reversing valve. 100% of the time Compress Shield® restored the reversing valve to full operation.
Additionally, the pilot results reported a 100% customer satisfaction rate on those service calls where Compress Shield® was used. It was also noted that there were no customer recalls when Compress Shield® was installed.
Several of the contractors who participated in the 2008 pilot have found several ways to use the product to increase sales within their existing customer base. Some have sold Compress Shield® as part of an energy savings program while others incorporate it within their preventative maintenance agreements.
